Mary Mulvihill Award 2021

DCU student Eoin Murphy is the 2021 winner of the €2,000 Mary Mulvihill Award for his audio documentary on Covid-19 inequities, comparing experiences in Peru and Ireland. The Highly Commended award went to TCD student Matthew Thomas for an essay drawing lessons from the AIDS epidemic.

This year’s theme was Virus and entries were submitted in a wide variety of formats, covering many different perspectives on the theme.

Congratulations to Eoin and Matthew and to all who entered the competition.

The award is open to many different formats, from essays to podcasts: the winning entry in 2019 was Laura K. Finnegan’s sampler of a children’s book about Irish scientists. More information can be found at marymulvihillaward.ie.
