Soapbox Science - Call for Speakers Open

  • 9 February 2021

Soapbox Science 2021 is looking for speakers: Apply now.

Soapbox Science is coming to Galway (September 4), Dublin (July 3), and Cork (June) again this summer! This live event brings female scientists and engineers into public spaces on soapboxes, to talk to the public about their research and its impact. It has two aims: to engage members of the public who may not have set out to interact with science or scientists, and to promote the visibility of women in science. Since 2011, over 1000 women have participated in Soapbox Science events across the world, from eminent leaders in their field to those starting their careers in STEMM (e.g. PhD students). To apply to all Irish events, please visit the Soapbox Science website. Closing for applications is 28 February 2021.

Why participate?

Soapbox Science is a great opportunity to polish your speaking skills, network with other researchers, increase the visibility of women in science, promote your research (at the event and online), and have fun doing so! Speaker training will be provided prior to the event, to help you deliver a 15 minute talk with props 4 times over the course of 3 hours. Speakers are from a wide range of career stages, from professors to PhD students.
