The CV clinic was sponsored by WITS, with the collaboration of highly experienced recruiter and HR specialists from Johnson and Johnson and Collins McNicholas. It was held in the Boole 06 in the main campus of University College Cork on March 12th, 2019. Magaly V. Mora introduced WITS and its different memberships, focusing on promoting the free student membership for students. Magaly also recognised the collaboration with Lia Boyland since beginnings of work for WITS since 2017 while she was working for Bank of Ireland. Additionally, she mentioned that this collaboration is the beginning of many with Eloisa for the work with WITS corporate member Johnson & Johnson.
Then Lia Boyland presented in a very well story format tips for the young and mature third-level students, information of how can they enhance their CV. While presenting, Lia asked the attendees about their own experiences and examples to be shared with all attendees. After this, Eloisa presented the Graduate Programme in J&J. Eloisa mentioned to the attendees about the importance of the link to culture and values, Johnson and Johnson credo was commented.
The main activity of the session was the one-to-one session of all third-level students with each HR specialist. The students responded very proactively to the session and presented a copy of their CV with some doubts and questions to be directly answered by the experts who have seen a lot of CVs. A very positive feedback as example of this event was received by Chrystal Nicola Peris, student of Master in Science in Analytic Chemistry: “We have attended many events as part of our course but they were so formal and scary, but today we felt extremely relaxed and we had a really good time, and I got some excellent tips from Eloisa and Lia for applying for jobs as an immigrant who needs a visa to work here.”
